Welcome to Why Is Play Important at Forest School?
Hi
I’m Sam, co-director of Cambium Sustainable and your guide for this short online course.
Welcome to this short online course on the role of play at Forest School.
I'm a passionate advocate for children's play.
My experiences of play as a child, coupled with my observations of children's play and the research I've read have convinced me that play is a crucial part of the natural development of all children.
However, sometimes I've felt pressured to cut play time out of my sessions to allow more time for 'learning'.
Perhaps you've felt the same?
In this course, we'll take a deep dive into the evolution, theory and applications of play in our work, and explore together the reasons why this sometimes overlooked aspect of children's development is so crucial to health, wellbeing and development.
Let's play!
