Welcome to What Is Forest School?

I’m Sam, co-director of Cambium Sustainable and your guide for this short online course.

I’ve been delivering, training and developing Forest School practice in the UK for over a decade. During this time, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have met many other practitioners from settings around the world. 

However, as Forest School educators, we are constantly learning and developing too and this process continues no matter how long you’ve been practising. 

Whether you are just interested in Forest School or a seasoned practitioner looking to refresh your knowledge, this course is for you.

We will explore the ethos, history and current practice in the UK, as well as thinking about where Forest School is headed and what we can all do to guide our own practice, and the Forest School community forward.

This is also an excellent course to share with your manager, SLT or colleagues who would value some more context around what we do at Forest School, and crucially, why we do it!
