Welcome to Risky Play at Forest School
Hello
Welcome to this course on the importance and management of Risk and Risky Play at Forest School.
I'm Sam, co-director of Cambium Sustainable.
Like most practitioners risk worries me. It's hard to get the right balance of risk and benefit so that both you and your participants feel both secure and challenged. I've certainly had those moments of dread when something happens that you're not prepared for or things take an unexpected turn.
On the other hand, I've seen how vital risk is to children's wellbeing and development and how it can boost their self-esteem and confidence.
In this course, we're going to explore what Risky Play is in the context of Forest School, why children are naturally drawn to risky behaviours and how we can manage risk during our programmes so that everyone stays as safe as necessary.
Let's find out more!
